Temporary $750 Fee for Expedited B-1/B-2 Visa Interviews

The Department of State has created a temporary pilot program, effective July 1 through December 31, 2026, allowing certain B-1/B-2 visitor visa applicants to pay an additional $750 fee for access to an expedited interview appointment. The option will be available only at selected consular posts and only if expedited appointment slots are available.

This fee is useful only for applicants who need an earlier interview date and are applying at a participating post. It does not speed up visa adjudication, administrative processing, security checks, or passport return, and it does not improve the applicant’s chance of visa approval. Applicants must still qualify for the B-1/B-2 visa and should expect normal eligibility review at the interview.

The process also has practical limits. Applicants must first submit the DS-160, pay the regular MRV fee, and schedule a standard appointment before selecting a paid expedited slot if one is offered. Existing no-fee expedite options for urgent or humanitarian circumstances remain available. Because the pilot is limited by post and appointment capacity, travelers and employers should not treat the $750 option as a substitute for early visa planning.
